But I like the word, especially when applied to poor people who must struggle for it, rather than the privileged who can simply lose it. When it comes to Alzheimer's and dementia, the focus of your piece, I'm more up in the air. Having an illness seems to be something other than the dignity I am thinking of--perhaps your point.
